Proposed & Recommended County Operating Budget for Fiscal Year 2008-2009

The Office of County Administrator in consultation with the County Department of Accounting and Offices of County Treasurer and County Commissioner of the Revenue is responsible for the preparation of the Proposed & Recommended County Operating Budget for each County fiscal year (July 1 through June 30). The Washington County Board of Supervisors adopts the County Operating Budget in June of each year after extensive review and modification of the Proposed & Recommended County Operating Budget during a series of budget worksession meetings held during the months of May and June. The Board of Supervisors also conducts several County agency/departmental budget request review meetings and at least one public hearing on the Proposed & Recommended County Operating Budget during the month of May (please refer to the website's Calendar for the dates, times and locations of these budget-related meetings). Many of the boards, authorities, commissions and agencies of the County government have their own operating budgets that are not part of the Proposed & Recommended County Operating Budget.

The Proposed & Recommended County Operating Budget made available here is as of the date of release to the Washington County Board of Supervisors (February 28, 2008). The budget document made available here will not be updated as the Board of Supervisors modifies and tentatively approves budget figures. Upon adoption of the County Operating Budget for the coming fiscal year, the final version of the budget may be accessed through the "Current County Operating Budget" link within the Resources webpage.
