County Department of Emergency Services
Under the direction of the County Administrator, the Department of Emergency Services is responsible for coordinating emergency services activities within Washington County. A close relationship is maintained between the Department and the volunteer fire and rescue organizations who are assigned emergency response duties throughout the County. The Department is responsible for maintaining a County Emergency Operations Plan and a Hazardous Materials Response Plan. The Department is the point of contact for the County's Enhanced 9-1-1 (E-9-1-1) system and to report a stolen street name signs and requesting replacement signs. The Department maintains a database of all addressed structures in the County and is responsible for the coordination between the telephone company and post offices on E-9-1-1 issues.
